Why Don't You Use the FRV Website and/or This Forum?

When I first decided to jump into musky fishing back in early 2009, I went to the Chicago Musky Show at Harper College and picked up all the information I could about tackle, boats, learning tools and musky clubs. One winter night I was sifting through my bag of brochures and catalogues and came across info from a couple two/tree musky clubs in the Chicago area and checked out all the websites. FRV Muskies Inc.’s website was clearly the best club based solely on the information and sharing of information on each Club’s website. I went to a meeting, decided it wasn’t a cult and their was nothing wierd going on, bought my first (and last) boat that was offered up for sale on the FRV website, asked a bunch of stupid questions on the Forum, started fishing with and meeting people from¬† the club. To make a long story short, I went from being an old idiot with a new boat and not many friends to an even older idiot with an old boat and some good friends.

I don’t know what happened exactly to the website, but suspect a lot of it died with Russ Schaller and with the coming to be of Facebook and other social media sites. Russ was a mentor to me and many others. He was usually the first one who bothered to answer any stupid question I posted on the forum and he shared the most detailed fishing reports in the history of musky fishing reports. I not only miss seeing Russ on weekend mornings on the Chain, at club outings and meetings, and at the after fishing gatherings for a burger at places like the Sand Bar, pork tenderloin sandwich at Steitz’s, or blackened Ribeye at the 17th Street Grill, but miss all he brought to this Club and this forum. We need to get this website back to the days of Russ and we need everyone to help get it back there. No one can replace him. All we can do is try.

Please provide any feedback you may want to share about why you have stopped checking the FRV website or why you stopped (or never started) participating in the forum by replying to this post. If you would rather do this privately, please send an email to muskyjunky@gmail.com.

    Thank you!
